hmm

I'm reading my Google Analytics results a lot. I'm getting most of my readers looking for "cell analogy" which just points out how lazy most of America must be. Most of the people looking for others to do their homework for them are from Texas. Hm. See, I am biased. That's why I'm moving to Toronto the first chance I get. Anyway. I'm currently reading Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead until I can acquire a bit more Pynchon...preferably Gravity's Rainbow. I'm currently reminding myself why Stephen Colbert is truly the funniest man who could possibly exist.

wow......

So. I just finished Half-Life 2: Episode 2. The latest game in a series of some of the best games possible to make. Valve has this art down to a science. Nobody can really match these games, and they are by far the best in the genre. This one is arguably the best in the series. There were some parts that felt a little too difficult, namely the final battle, but everyone expects the final battle to be difficult. Anyway, the end (major spoilers ahead. Major!) was incredibly done. Rarely do I cry openly, and even rarer is it that a video game or movie makes me cry. After you protect a missile silo from giant creatures, destroying them by lobbing a sticky bomb at each of about 7, I believe, the rocket is launched, and it closes a portal threatening the entire universe. You and your platonic companion in the story, Alyx Vance, are about to depart on a helicopter, while her father escorts you, and says his goodbye to her. As you are about to board, these creatures called Combine Advisors fly in, pinning you to the wall psychically, paralyzing you, while they pull in her father. She screams and cries, but it is no use, as he says, "I love you, baby!" and "Look away, Alyx" and they ruthlessly and violently kill him, as she sobs. Another comes, but her pet robot kills it before it attacks you or Alyx. She holds her father in her arms and quietly sobs, saying, "No..." over and over again. She whispers, "Please...don't leave me..." Fade to black.

Five ways I tend to feel after speaking with Sprint’s Customer Service (by Merlin Mann) from 5ives.com

January 9th, 2004
  1. Like I was just traded to another inmate for 2 packs of menthol cigarettes
  2. Like I’ve been slapped repeatedly with a half-frozen sturgeon
  3. Like I’ve accidentally just agreed to finish the homework of every kid in my middle school
  4. Like somewhere in a big Sprint building, there’s a fat man with a monocle and a top hat smoking a cigar while dancing a jig and holding a fat bag of five-dollar bills with my bewildered face on it
  5. Very, very unclean
